Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What type of incontinence do I have?

A: These are the main types of incontinence:

Stress Incontinence: is the most common type where urine leaks during coughing, sneezing, laughing or lifting heavy objects, which puts pressure on the bladder.

Urge Incontinence: is when you know you want to urinate but cannot hold it long enough to make it to the restroom in time.  Urine can leak the instant you feel the urge.

Overflow Incontinence: is when the quantity of urine exceeds the capacity of the bladder and leakage occurs.  You may feel as if your bladder is never fully empty and it is an unpleasant feeling.  Others may not feel that their bladder is full but dribble and pass urine with little control.  This type can be due to a physical obstruction, a common example is prostate problems in men.

Functional Incontinence: is when you know you want to go to urinate but because of some physical problem, cannot get to the restroom quickly enough.

Reflex Incontinence: occurs due to spinal or neurological trauma or disease when there is little or no sensation or voluntary control of the bladder.

Incontinence can also be a result of surgical procedures such as prostate or rectal surgery, or caesarean section.

Q: What is the best type of protection for mild incontinence such as stress incontinence?

A: Pads are a good option for mild incontinence.  They are sold in a range of absorbency levels and can be worn with either regular or specialty underwear.

Q: What is the best type of protection for moderate incontinence such as overflow or urge incontinence?

A: Pull on protective underwear is usually the best option for moderate incontinence because they are easy to pull up and down. They are convenient to use and a good choice for those able to use the bathroom on their own.

Q: What is the best type of protection for heavy incontinence such as functional or reflex incontinence?

A: Adult diapers, also known as briefs, are the best choice for extended wear (overnight), severe incontinence, or for those confined to bed.  They provide the most protection and are more easily changed by caregivers.  Because they have tapes, they are more secure and allow for the most customizable fit.

Q: Where can I get more information on incontinence in general?

A: The National Association for Continence website, www.nafc.org is devoted to incontinence treatment options, information and advocacy.

Q: How soon will my products arrive after I place my order?

A: If your order is received before 2:00 pm EST, they are usually delivered within two business days.

Q: How can I check on the status of my order?

A: Simply go to our Customer Service page and enter the confirmation number you received when you placed your order.

Q: What are the shipping costs?
